Are oral appliances effective for treating sleep apnea?

Video Overview

Are oral appliances effective for treating sleep apnea? Yes they are. First the patient needs to be diagnosed with a sleep apnea problem. The standard of care for sleep apnea is a CPAP machine. To assist with that sometimes we have to fabricate an oral appliance that will advance or bring the bottom jaw forward, opening up that breathing tube behind the soft palate and tongue; allowing the patient to breathe much more easily at night.
