What is BiPAP?

Video Overview

What is BiPAP? BiPAP is a form of positive airway pressure that is used as a treatment for sleep apnea. It is more properly known as bi-level support. It helps to keep the airway open when someone is sleeping after having been diagnosed with sleep apnea. It essentially functions to eliminate the sleep disordered breathing events that occur. With BiPAP there are two separate pressures. One is used when the patient inhales and another pressure, which is a lower pressure, is used upon exhalation.
