Video Overview

What are the most common sleep disorders? Some of the most common sleep disorders that we treat include insomnia, obstructive sleep apnea, restless legs syndrome, narcolepsy, and especially non-restorative sleep. In addition to these common disorders there are almost one hundred other sleep disorders that we see periodically. How do we approach treating these disorders? First, we obtain a complete sleep history, including the medications the patient is taking. We then perform an appropriative examination and we then order an overnight sleep study to assess their nighttime functioning. We then meet with the patient to educate them about the sleep disorder and outline treatment options.
