Twitching can be related to a sleep disorder such as Periodic Limb Movements in Sleep or restless leg syndrome. This could be addressed proficiently by a Board Certified Sleep Specialist.

Most twitches in sleep are benign. They are also called hypnic jerks. No treatment is needed. They could also be part of so called periodic limb movements in sleep or PLMS and can be associated with restless leg syndrome. Treatment with medications is needed if they disrupt your sleep significantly. Another type of jerks is related to seizures/ epilepsy. These are more serious and definitely need to be treated. Your doctor should be able to get a full history, perform additional testing if needed and make the correct diagnosis. Best of luck to you.
