What are the best oral appliances for sleep apnea?

This question was asked in Irvine, California on 11/07/2012.
I am sick of wearing my CPAP machine. I was diagnosed with sleep apnea 6 months ago but I suspect that I have had it for much longer than that. What is the best dental appliance for sleep apnea?

There are several including mandibular advancement devices, tongue retaining devices which can be adjusted and used for mild to moderate sleep apnea. A dental sleep specialist is best to advise you on the use of these devices and what is involved if you have failedan adequate CPAP trial.

Depends on the severity of your apnea and other factors such as whether you teeth grind, the shape of your airway I suggest you discuss with your sleep physician. If you do not have a sleep specialist helping you in treatment. I would strongly suggest you try to locate a board certified sleep specialist.

At this time, the best oral appliance for me is the SomnoDent appliance by SomnoMed. This is the one that I wear for my severe sleep apnea.
