Is there a sleep disorder that causes you to have a headache every morning?

Why do I have a headache and why am I tired every morning? Could I have a sleep disorder that causes this?

Morning headache is one of the number one symptoms of obstructive sleep apnea! You should be evaluated.

Yes there are sleep disorders that can casue a headache upon awakening. Sleep Apnea is the primary one due to repeated periods of hypoxia associated with collpase of the upper airway. Occassionally insomnia, bruxism, chronic paroxysmal hemicrania, exploding headache syndrome and idiopathic hypersomnia are some of the other less common conditions associated with headache.

Side effects of untreated Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome include but are not limited to both morning headaches and daytime sleepiness. Evaluation by a sleep specialist would help to determine if this applies in your case.
