Are mandibular advancement devices an effective long-term solution?

I was prescribed a mandibular advancement device for my sleep apnea and snoring. Will the device help cure the problem, or is it only a temporary solution?

It is an effective long term solution. However, you should be evaluated with the device as your body can accommodate and need adjustments. Also, changes in your weight and tissue elasticity affect the device's performance.

Mandibular advancement devices can be very effective in the long-term if it is properly made, adjusted and maintained. To properly treat sleep apnea and snoring, compliance with the use of the oral device or with CPAP is most important. Personally, I have used a mandibular advancement device nightly for the past 5 years without any problems. For me, it's permanent solution.
